For more than a century, choruses from Harvard, Princeton, and Yale Universities have celebrated their deep friendship with a season of collaborative concerts during the fall semester. Last October we continued to honor this tradition at a time of extraordinary change and challenge with a virtual benefit concert: Hand in Hand.

As the year draws to a close and we reflect on our experiences during this time, we have resolved to come together once again to share our musical work. And so on Sunday, May 23rd at 5 pm EDT, we invite you to join us for another virtual benefit concert: Hand in Hand II, presented by the Harvard Choruses, the Yale Glee Club, and the Princeton University Glee Club. Our partner in this project is Education Through Music, now celebrating its 30th anniversary, which partners with under-resourced schools to provide music as a core subject for all children.

Each ensemble will share new performances by its singers, with several selections also featuring alumni, and the concert will end with a joint virtual performance by students and alumni of a new arrangement by Tim Keeler, Music Director of Chanticleer, of favorite songs from all three Universities entitled Songs of Home.

All ticket proceeds will go to support the work of Education Through Music. The suggested minimum donation is $5, but we encourage you to give as generously as you can. Students can register for free.

The world premiere of Karen Siegel's Reunion

Monday, May 10, 2021 | 7:30 PM EST / 6:30 PM CST

Featuring Joyful Noise, Cambridge Common Voices, Central Illinois Youth Chorus, and the Harvard-Radcliffe Collegium Musicum

Livestream link:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KsXOilfPS7w
Come see the Harvard-Radcliffe Collegium Musicum and Cambridge Common Voices (CCV) sing LIVE in the world premiere of Reunion by Karen Siegel, co-performed by Joyful Noise and the Central Illinois Youth Chorus. Siegel writes that "'Reunion' was inspired by a visit with my parents during the COVID-19 pandemic. After careful self-isolation and negative COVID tests, we joined them and my sister's family for our traditional summer vacation together. When we said goodbye, we did not know how long it would be until we could be together again without masks and social distancing. We had many long hugs during this time." The piece is a reflection of the sadness of being without a reunion and the hope of a safe reunion in the future. It also reflects the virtual friendships Collegium and CCV have struck up over the pandemic and our anticipation of meeting together in person soon.

The Radcliffe Choral Society is excited to present UNCHARTED, featuring two virtual world premieres: A Sense of Decency and Planetarium. Composed by Dr. Katherine Pukinskis, A Sense of Decency sets excerpts from a dissent and an opinion written by the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. The premieres will be accompanied by the Grammy award-winning Parker Quartet, Blodgett Artists-in-Residence at the Harvard University Department of Music. In addition to the virtual recordings, UNCHARTED will include visual artwork created by singers in the Radcliffe Choral Society and high school students, behind-the-scenes footage of the RCS virtual choir experience this past fall, and introductions from the composers themselves.

Cambridge Common Voices is a community chorus established in partnership between Harvard College and the Threshold Program at Lesley University, a transition program for young adults with diverse learning challenges. This ensemble strives to create an inclusive musical space and practice, affirming individual voices, and explore innovative approaches to music-making, including elements of Universal Design for Learning and Empowering Song.

Cambridge Common Voices positions disability not as deficit, but as a facet of human diversity worthy of creative exploration and appreciation. Affirming the individual and collective funds of knowledge within its community, the ensemble aspires to frame disability as a resource of artistic ingenuity that holds the potential to broaden the concepts of choral music and revolutionize artistic praxis in conventional settings.

Lessons & Carols
Presented by
The Harvard Glee Club &
Ashmont Boys choir

Livestream: Sunday, December 20 | 4 PM ET
Livestream Link: https://youtu.be/60i0c6AxdBs
Facebook Event:  https://fb.me/e/3E82fJfIb!
Music for Lessons and Carols - a joint venture between the Harvard Glee Club and the trebles of the All Saints' Choir of Men and Boys, also known as the Ashmont Boy Choir.

The inspiration for this musical collaboration is the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, which takes place at Christmastide throughout the world. The Festival was first drawn up for use in the wooden shed that served as the cathedral in the Cornish town of Truro, and first sung on Christmas Eve in 1880. It took almost four decades for the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols to make its way to the choir of King's College at Cambridge University, which has provided the event with its global reach. For many, this sequence of hymns, carols, and readings – opening with "Once in royal David's city" – is a hallmark of the holiday season.

The Ashmont Choir and the Harvard Glee Club combine their voices, enriching and broadening the relationship between the two ensembles, by participating in virtual choir arrangements of nine carols for the season. Please join us on December 20 at 4:00 for a broadcast of the Music for Lessons and Carols.
