Cambridge common voices (Spring 2020)
Cambridge Common Voices (CCV) has continued to make music together via Zoom through the end of the semester. Each week we greet each other in song, warm-up our voices and practice singing through various activities, and often break into groups to create our own music. Director Andy Clark frequently presents on special topics, such as vocal technique or John Cage. In lieu of our spring 2020 concerts, we created a virtual performance of our favorite song: Work to be Done. To learn more about CCV visit www.singatharvard.com/ccv.

Ubuhle Bendalo – Collegium
The Harvard-Radcliffe Collegium Musicum presents Ubuhle Bendalo by Bongani Magatyana. In Summer 2019, Collegium had the immense privilege to embark on a three-week tour to South Africa. Bongani Magatyana, a prolific composer and conductor from Cape Town, taught several of his compositions to Collegium during the first week of the tour at the Nylsvley Nature Reserve in the Limpopo Province of South Africa. Ubuhle Bendalo is an expression of our collective love for the beauty of nature, from the ‘green trees and colorful flowers’ to the ‘mountains, hills, and oceans’ that connect our seemingly distant lives. We hope that this performance offers comfort and much-needed musical sustenance during these difficult times. If you would like to support Bongani Magatyana’s work as a composer, conductor, and activist, please visit www.patreon.com/bonganimagatyana.

Holden Voice Program Song Nights
The Holden Voice Program is proud to share that although the circumstances of voice lessons have changed, our singers’ dedication has not! We have continued to grow in technique, artistry, and musicianship through online lessons, working with accompaniment recordings played by our staff pianists. Since our yearly Spring Recital in Holden Chapel was not possible, we welcome you instead to two live-streamed evenings of song on YouTube.
